National Society of High School Scholars ceremony at New City Academy of Medicine

The world is an amazing place and the people you meet along the way can teach you a lot. My son is an NSHSS member and such a great honor! We went to New York to join the special presentation and award ceremony. Although Claes Nobel did not make it, his video presentation captures everyone’s attention. The family legacy and mission is to improve lives and provide hope. I listened and took note of every word he was saying. It seemed as though he and I had a cup of coffee in the past because it was almost he had been speaking directly to me and sharing his inspirations throughout my life.
The trip to New York Academy of Medicine is the dream of the healthcare provider and educator because innovation in our field is crucial. My son who has a weighted GPA of higher than 3.5, took his SAT at age 12, and currently dual enrolled in Bethune Cookman University , while taking all honors courses is going to college for computer engineering. He is absolutely brilliant!

Understanding the mission of focused students begins at the ages of 5 and 11. Age has no boundary for the fulfillment of the purpose that we were born into. Igor Tomeski, a movie producer and film director, Pavlina Osta, a journalist from Port Orange, Fl. and the beautiful, amazing Josie Pearce volunteers while dealing with her own health challenges were all recognized at the National Society of High School Scholars ceremony. I am a proud mother and a humanitarian by nature myself, with all the community engagements and children esteem focus workshops and book publications. Small Voices Heard and the new book Flagler Voices.

During the event at the National Society of High School Scholars, I had the privilege to meet my newest inspirations; two teacher who share the value of diversity and inclusion in their teaching structure. Alexander Abbondola, a teacher from Gharnega, Liberia, and Bernadette Moreno, another teacher from the United States both share a passion as an educator to ensure excellence and success in their teaching path. I begin teaching recently, and I now understand no matter what the issues or barriers are I must hold onto the core principles to providing hope. I am super proud of the recipients for the special award recognition and glad we traveled to New York to share that moment of recognition.
Lashandra Little, the director of the National Society of High School Scholars, did an amazing job, and I am so honored to be a mother of the National Society of High School Scholars.
As a mother and community activist and author I never underestimate the power of our children and encouraging scholars to reach high for the stars to make an impact to improve lives today. #NSHSS
